How much is a DJ for my event?
A perfectly reasonable question, but it’s a lot like walking into a hotel and asking how much a room is. We’d ask many of the same questions: how many people? Basic room, junior suite, or luxury suite? How long are you staying? A party for 200 needs a different sound system than a party of 30. We have different menu items and customize each event to your requirements. Base packages include up to 4 hours, with a discount for extended hours. Tell us about your event and we’ll email you a written quote.
How will my DJ be dressed?
Any way you designate. Tux, business casual, dress-up for a themed event — we’re happy to do it. Ken has done events (by request) in top hat and tails, so don’t be afraid to ask. Default is business casual.
How long does setup take?
We usually arrive 1.5 to 2 hours before the event. Standard setup takes about 45 minutes; very large setups up to 4 hours. We always allow extra time.
Do you have insurance?
Absolutely. Our $2 million policy covers you, your guests, and the venue. It’s universally accepted by all major hotels and venues. A copy comes with your written quote so you can hand it to your venue.
Do you offer discounts?
5% off any DJ package for active-duty military. Midweek (Monday–Thursday) events can also qualify for a midweek discount. We don’t discount rentals, holidays, or premium days like Saturday. Limited-time specials get posted on our social channels.
Why are weddings more expensive than other packages?
Weddings are once-in-a-lifetime events. A cherished ritual representing a lifetime of hopes and dreams. That’s a lot of pressure and takes a special kind of training, experience, and skill. Preparation, attention to detail, timelines, schedules, vendor coordination — all more demanding for a wedding than any other event. The price reflects both the extra work AND the years of experience required.
What kind of music do you have?
Over 40,000 songs in our DJ collection and 8,000+ in our karaoke library. Hip-Hop, Country, Pop, Classic Rock, Golden Oldies, and everything in between. We focus on songs that have appeared at least once on the Billboard charts. Have a request that isn’t mainstream? Tell us in advance and we’ll do our best to buy it at our own expense.
Did you really buy all those songs?
Yes — storage bins full of CDs purchased over the years. Thousands of CDs over 15+ years, even some vinyl transferred to computer. We also buy legal downloads from Amazon, iTunes, and Promo Only. We do not download from illegal sites.
Do you bring backup equipment?
Absolutely. Nothing is more horrifying to a DJ than equipment failure. We invest in commercial-grade gear to minimize the chance of failure, and we bring extra speakers, an extra amplifier, extra microphones, and even an extra laptop to every event.
What’s your cancellation policy?
Dates are consumable. When you book, we take that date off the shelf. If you cancel and we can re-book the date, you’re only responsible for a $100 cancellation fee. If we can’t re-book, you’re responsible for the lost income — standard policy across the event industry. We can sell you cancellation insurance at the time of booking (10% of your written quote) which absolves you of all outstanding fees if you have to cancel.
